Born and raised on Hawaii island, we, Hermin and Paulette Gantala, are the proud owners of Japanese Auto Works and Service. We're not just business owners, we are dedicated auto professionals who have turned our passion for cars into a lifelong commitment to serve our Kona community.
Hermin's Journey
As an ASE master certified technician, Hermin brings to the table 19 years of extensive experience in the automotive industry. Sought after to open up the Mercedes Benz Kona Service Center with Paulette and becoming Mercedes-Benz and Sprinter trained and certified. He worked at Big Island Toyota where he held Toyota top certification and training, even becoming hybrid certified. His passion and expertise have seen him work at Big Island Honda earning Top Tech honors in 2014 and reaching master technician certified from Honda. Earning an associates degree from Universal Technical Institute in 2005 and graduating from Kohala High in 2004.
He has earned valuable experience and dealership certifications along the way,
adding to his vast repertoire of skills.
Hermin's journey is defined by his dedication to his craft and just loving what he does.
Paulette's Path
Paulette’s journey in the automotive industry spans over 24 years, Culminating in the co-opening of the Mercedes Benz Kona Service Center with Hermin. Her service advising flourished at Big Island Honda and Big Island Toyota, Attending college with automotive mechanics courses, finally getting her bachelor's degree in Business management. Graduating from Konawaena High in 2000. Her first job was at Kailua-Kona Chevron, being a full service attendant. Over the years, she has honed her skills across various roles from mechanics to detailing but finally finding what she loves to do by being a service advisor and helping people with their car needs.
